Hi,
I am using Cain & Abel v4.9.14 on Vista Home Premium.
But I got "IOCTL BSSID_LIST failed" when Active Scan for wireless.
And the left side are all grey "Wireless".
What should I do?
Thx in advance.

I have successfullly used Cain 4.9.14 on Windows XP Pro (and versions back before version 4).
I just purchased a ThinkPad T61p Core Duo with Vista Business 64-bit. I have read here that 64-bit continues to present some issues, but some of the posts were a while back.
As of right now, I get the CreateRemoteThread Failed:0 when trying to populate LM and NTLM with the + command (Cracker Tab). I get the same error under the Decoder Tab -> Dialup Passwords and Decoder Tab -> LSA Secrets.
When I click on the Wireless Tab, the grey description area on the left intrudes in about 9 different lines into the white area in the BSSID column (Nvidia 570 Quadro video). I did select "larger fonts (120dpi)" so I can reat.
Most of the other functions seem to work. In the Vista machine, I started with WinPcap 4.0.2 and then tried WinPcap 4.1 beta 3 with no change in results (not that I expected WinPcap to be related to the above.
Please let me know if I can supply additional information. Thanks

It's Vista's fault, Cain doesn't work with it, yet
those grayed out options are for the airpcap hardware which aren't available to standard hardware actively scanning.
as usual, i recommend to all vista users DOWNGRADE TO XP, vista is worthless and your computer won't be slow running XP(plus it will actually work)

I respect your sentiment, however, Vista is on the way, and the time to purchase pre-loaded XP systems is limited. I think XP is a fine system. However, I need to move forward, and I do not find Vista to be worthless at all. I have it running very successfully. I posted in order to let people and Mao know what I was doing. I can always run Cain in a Virtual Machine, so going forward I can test in both environments.

Probably not. I just loaded Office 2007 Professional and One Note. I had already loaded a number of other tools I use. So far all is well.

The CreateRemoteThread Failed:0 error is still there (Cain V 4.9.20 installed using Run As administrator). The Wireless Tab display looks fine with standard fonts (I changed back and am adapting to smaller print).
Thank you, Mao, for all your fine efforts. ... C

I'm sorry but I don't have a 64bit system so I cannot test my application on it. This is why some functions of Cain fail on 64bit systems.

I am using Cain 4.9.23 ( The package available on the site ) running on Vista Ultimate.
I Have an USB adapter Card DLink DWL-120 and an Ethernet connection.
When I run Cain, it says "Unable to load Winpcap Driver" after presso OK Vista Shut Down the program searchin a solution...
I've tryed to reinstall WinPcap, but nothin'
I tryed also Run Cain as Admin, and with Windows XP compatibility bt nothing to do.
Shutting Down Kspersky ( it says Cain is a bad guy...) is not necessary during the running of the prog.
I tryed also Shut down my usb adapter, but is the same.
I tryed also debuggin the exception and it's reported below.
Unhandled exception 0x00404c5d in cain.exe 0xC00000005 Access Violation Reading Location 0x0000000
I hope enjoining you in discover something of useful.

Have you tried the latest Beta winpcap drivers? They are available here.

Yes, is the same with winpcap beta.
I suppose Kaspersky AV even if is disabled goes in troble with Winpcap or Cain.
I'll try using another AV.

That's unfortunate, Kaspersky is good.

Re: Problem with Vista and Cain & Abel!
Please has anyone been able to get C&A working fine on Vista... or Win7? My solution so far has been to use VM. Any ideas?
